Ballot By Mail Requests - System Validation
When requesting mail ballots for a voter in the Process ABBMs Queue, the system validates certain voter and election settings. This validation prohibits you from requesting a ballot for any election for which:
- The voter has already voted. Highlight the row in the Ballot By Mail Request dialog, press Reject, and select Other as the reason.
- The voter's precinct is not voting. Highlight the row in the Ballot By Mail Request dialog, press Reject, and select Other as the reason.
- The party is not the same as what was recorded for the voter from a previous election in the calendar year. Highlight the row in the Ballot By Mail Request dialog, press Reject, and select Other as the reason.
- The type is not a general election, the request type is All Elections, and no party is selected. A voter cannot select to vote in both a Democratic and a Republican primary election. Select one party from the list to update the grid with the eligible elections.
- The voter did not register in time. Highlight the row in the Ballot By Mail Request dialog, press Reject, and select Other as the reason.
- The election is grouped with one or more other elections and the voter has already requested a ballot for an election in the group. This validation ensures that voters can only vote in one party’s primary or primary runoff election. Highlight the row in the Ballot By Mail Request dialog, press Reject, and select Other as the reason. To learn how to group elections, see Election Maintenance - Group.
